In Naruna, Brennan Stone threw a six-hitter, six straight William Campbell batters reach in a four-run fifth inning, and the Generals held off Cumberland 5-2 in the Region 2C baseball semifinals.
The Generals (10-10) lock up a berth into the Class 1 state tournament and are scheduled to play at region top seed Riverheads at noon today. The Gladiators (22-2) defeated Stonewall Jackson 10-1 in another semifinal.
Stone allowed two earned runs and struck out three in the complete-game victory.
Jon Hicks and Sloan Seals each had RBI singles to spark the four-run fifth. Randy Crabtree had an RBI double and Eric Hanson, who hit a solo homer in the second, drew a bases-loaded walk.
Alex Porter went 1 for 3 with a triple for the Dukes (11-10).
Rappahannock County 4, Altavista 2
In Washington, the Panthers (17-7) claimed a Region 1B semifinal victory over the Colonels (5-13), ending Altavista’s season.

In Dinwiddie, fourth-seeded Altavista upset top-seeded Appomattox Regional Governor’s School at the Dinwiddie Sports Complex to advance to today’s Region 1B championship match. The Colonels, who have qualified for the Class 1 state tournament, play at Stonewall Jackson in Quicksburg at 6 p.m.
John Handley 5, E.C. Glass 1
In Winchester, E.C. Glass sophomore Owen Selden claimed a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles to account for the Hilltoppers’ lone point in a Class 4 state quarterfinal loss to the Judges at Stone Brook Tennis Club.
Selden defeated Daniel Botros 6-4, 6-4.
The Hilltoppers’ season ends with a 14-2 record.
