The 6-foot-1, 198-pound Mack will have to sit out the 2018 season under NCAA transfer rules, and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Mack rushed for 1,335 yards and nine touchdowns on 243 carries in 10 games for Maine. He was named a first-team FCS All-American by the Associated Press and STATS after posting the eighth-most all-purpose yards (1,615) at the FCS level.
The Rochester, New York, native was granted his release from Maine in December. A statement released by Maine included a comment from Black Bears coach Joe Harasymiak: “Josh has been granted his release to pursue opportunities at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.”
Mack rushed for 712 yards and six touchdowns on 140 attempts as a freshman.
