The Liberty football team landed its 10th verbal commitment for the recruiting Class of 2020 on Monday when wide receiver Ahmad Jackson announced his commitment on social media.
Jackson is rated a three-star prospect by recruiting site 247Sports. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Jackson plays at Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia, and finished his junior season with 39 catches for 583 yards and six touchdowns.
He is the fourth three-star recruit in this recruiting class. Wide receiver Michael James Jr. is rated three stars by 247Sports, while linebackers D.J. Humes and Jerome Jolly are three-star recruits according to ESPN.
Liberty has also landed a trio of two-star recruits in athlete Cameron Hunter, safety Tim Coutras and defensive end Lincorey Lucas Jr.
The Flames have also received verbal commitments from quarterback Sean Brown, wide receiver Ashton Maples and safety Louis Taylor.
Liberty to play in Jerry Colangelo Classic
The Liberty men's basketball team was one of four teams selected by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to play in this year's Jerry Colangelo Classic.
The Flames are scheduled to play Grand Canyon on Dec. 8 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena, home of the Phoenix Suns. This will mark the first meeting between the teams.
Dayton and Saint Mary's are the other two teams in the field.
Flames add transfer
Makaela Kestner, who played this past season at South Florida, is transferring to the Liberty women's basketball team and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Kestner averaged 0.4 points and 0.6 rebounds in 20 games with the Bulls.
The 5-foot-11 guard from Bealeton has to sit out the 2019-20 season and will be eligible for the 2020-21 campaign.
She played at Liberty High School in Bealeton and finished as the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,552 career points.
