Heritage High School senior Chris Megginson verbally committed to Liberty late Thursday evening to become the eighth commit in the Flames’ recruiting class.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Megginson chose the Flames over offers from other schools including Georgia State, VMI, Elon and Western Illinois.
The last major thing is... 3. FOOTBALL I’m thankful to play the game that I love and for choices to further my career in college, but I can only choose one. With that being said I would like to announce that I am 1000% committed to Liberty University‼️🔥 I’m staying home‼️‼️ pic.twitter.com/rInz5W6KZO— Ghost (@CMegg10) November 23, 2018
Megginson and the Pioneers play Liberty at 7 p.m. Friday in the Region 3C championship game at City Stadium.
He joins Brookville High School senior Micah Glaize as the second local product to commit to Liberty.
The Flames’ first FBS recruiting class featured one local product in Appomattox County High School’s JaVon Scruggs, and the second class currently features the two local verbal commits.
Scruggs was a two-way standout at Appomattox playing quarterback and defensive back, and Glaize and Megginson are two-way stars at wide receiver and defensive back.
Scruggs is one of two true freshman to appeared in every game this season, and Glaize and Megginson are expected to join him in the secondary at Liberty.
