FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Seventh-seeded Charleston Southern beat second-seeded Radford 8-3 in 13 innings in the Big South baseball tournament Wednesday.
Radford (29-26) will face the loser of Thursday afternoon’s Campbell-Charleston Southern game in an elimination game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Buccaneers (23-34) trailed 2-0 with two outs in the top of the ninth, but they tied the game when Radford starter Zack Ridgely allowed an RBI double to Kyle Horton and a bloop RBI single to Payton Holdsworth.
Holdsworth belted a solo homer in the top of the 12th, but David Bryant answered with an RBI single for Radford in the bottom of the inning.
The Buccaneers scored five runs in the 13th. The inning included an RBI double by Max Ryerson and RBI singles by Josh Litchfield, Horton and Jack DeLongchamps. The final run scored on a fielder’s choice bunt.
Bryant had three hits and one RBI for Radford, while Straton Podaras had three hits and scored once. Colby Higgerson had two hits, including an RBI single. J.D. Mundy (Northside) had an RBI double.

Magarity, Emery cut by WNBA teams
The WNBA regular season begins Friday, but the two former Virginia Tech stars who were in WNBA camps have been cut by their respective teams.
The Connecticut Sun waived Regan Magarity, who was taken by the Sun in the third and final round of the WNBA draft in April.
The Minnesota Lynx waived Taylor Emery, who had signed with Minnesota as a free agent after being bypassed in this year’s draft.
