Honoring our friend, Tom Webb
On behalf of the board of directors of Jubilee Family Development Center, we would like to thank our sponsors and guests for their support of the “Remembering Tom Webb Event: An Evening with Johnny Bench.”
This very special event was held on June 11 at Phase 2, and would not have been possible without the help of our sponsors: Blue Ridge BBQ & Catering and Overacre Associates, Grand Slam Sponsors; Baird Private Wealth Management, B&C Sports, Campbell Insurance, Dodson Pest Control, The Education and Research Foundation, First Presbyterian Church, Dodd & Sophia Harvey, Jamerson-Lewis Construction, Rick & Robin Loving, Lynchburg Sports Club, Quik-e, The World Famous Stadium Inn, and Steve’s Signworx, Home Run Sponsors; Wooldridge Heating, Air, & Electrical and Mary & David Neumeyer, Triple Play Sponsors; BB&T Scott & Stringfellow, Indigo Aire Spa & Wellness Center, James Bibby Memorial Foundation, and Pettyjohn, Wood & White, Inc., Double Play Sponsors, and Craddock Terry Hotel & Event Center, Phase 2, and WSET ABC13, In-Kind Sponsors. We appreciate all of the individuals who purchased a table, ticket or auction item and the dozens of businesses who donated generously to our live auction and silent auction.
We especially want to thank the Webb family for their hard work and generosity in support of this event. We were very thankful to have an opportunity to give a loving tribute to the life and legacy of Tom Webb, who was a remarkable man and extraordinary board member and community volunteer. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Tom Webb Children’s Fund at Jubilee Family Development Center.
We would also like to thank those who provided a memorable and entertaining program. Dennis Carter was the ideal Master of Ceremonies. Bill Bodine and Charlie Catalano offered comic relief with a funny rendition of the Abbott and Costello routine “Who’s on First?” Dodd Harvey and Bill Overacre gave poignant recollections of their friendships with Tom Webb. Auctioneer Shannon Simmons stirred up the crowd, who rose to the occasion and donated unselfishly. Most importantly we need to thank the legendary Johnny Bench for his graciousness and generosity. He came to Lynchburg for the express purpose of honoring his friend Tom Webb.
For those who missed the event, it’s not too late to donate to the Tom Webb Children’s Fund at Jubilee. For more details, please visit Jubilee’s website at www.jubileefamily.org.
