Dorothy Hall Wood, 88, of Bedford, Va., passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2019. She was born to James and Lillian Hall on August 27, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings; and her husband of 31 years, Nathan Rucker Wood. She dedicated 40 years of employment to Bedford Weaving Mill, where she retired and remained well loved by her community. She is survived by three daughters, Vickie "Tori" Thomas and companion, Joseph Smith, Darlene Kidd and son-in-law, Larry Kidd, and Deanna Bridges and son-in-law, Scooter Bridges; sister, Betty Bowling; brother-in-law, Everett Wood Sr.; six grandkids, 16 great-grandkids, and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dot loved bingo and played weekly with her many friends at the Elks Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bingo Fund at the English Meadows, Elks Home of Bedford. The family sends special thanks to her doctors, nurses and care staff that went above and beyond to care for her. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford and immediately following the graveside service at 42 Timber Ridge Drive, Forest, VA 24551.
