Edna Keesee Moore, 86, of Altavista, died on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Autumn Care of Altavista. She was the wife of the late Randolph Flournoy Moore for forty-eight years. She was born on November 10, 1932, in Altavista, a daughter of the late Jesse James Keesee and Edith Hunley Keesee. Mrs. Moore was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church and a retired employee of BGF. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved Thanksgiving and Christmas and cooking for her family. She is survived by two daughters, Kay Bates Caldwell and her husband, Ray, of Altavista, and Vickie Moore Layne and her husband, Donald, of Lynch Station; a sister, Mary K. Sherwood of Altavista; five grandchildren, Jerod Layne and his wife, Brittney, Josh Layne and his wife, Lori, Tobie Shelton and her husband, Rory, Stacy Tucker, and Ray Caldwell Jr. and his wife, Shae; and eight great-grandchildren, Erin and Kady Tucker, Jase and Korie Shelton, Kaci, Kylie and Kinsley Caldwell, Miranda, Gunner and J.B. Layne. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren C. Keesee and Walter Junior Keesee; and a sister, Delores K. "Tootie" Mayhew. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Finch & Finch Chapel, in Altavista by the Rev. Dr. Dawn Compton, interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, in Altavista and other times at the residence of her daughter, Kay Caldwell, 3439 Dearing Ford Rd., Altavista.
