The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond had identified the human remains found in Mecklenburg County last week as Amy Renee Fabian, a Cumberland County woman who has been missing since May 24.

Fabian's remains and a stolen Ford F-350 truck were found Thursday morning in a wooded area off Route 138, less than a mile from Route 1, in Mecklenburg.

Fabian had not been seen since Matthew T. Broyles, 29, of Powhatan County, was found dead in her home on Friday, May 24.

A suspect in the Broyles’ killing, George W. Knisley IV, 41, of Carroll County, Md., was arrested that Friday night after a police chase in Raleigh, N.C. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is suspected in Fabian’s disappearance, the police said. He is Fabian’s ex-boyfriend.
