UPDATE: Police on Saturday identified the woman killed in a July 4 crash on Virginia 151 in Nelson County.
Sarah E. Brungard, 24, of Lynchburg, was driving a 2005 Toyota Scion north on Virginia 151 at about 5 p.m. Thursday when it crossed the center line and and began to spin around just south of East Branch Loop, state police said in a news release Saturday.
The Scion collided head-on with a 2015 Lincoln Navigator traveling south. Brungard, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
The driver of the Lincoln, Wallace M. Giles Jr., 61, of Roseland, was not injured. His 57-year-old female passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts.
Virginia State Police are still investigating the crash.
EARLIER: A two-vehicle crash Thursday in Nelson County left one person dead, Virginia State Police said.
Police have not released the names of anyone involved.
Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller said police responded to the crash at 5:01 p.m. at the intersection of Virginia 151 and East Branch Loop.
Police continue to investigate.
