About 30 people gathered at Peaks View Park in Lynchburg Tuesday morning for a free bird walk hosted by the Lynchburg Bird Club. The outing served as an opportunity for people who haven’t had experience with birds and want to learn more. Anita Schmidt, a bird watcher on and off for 10 years, said the Lynchburg Bird Club is a communal experience that is welcoming to novice birders. “Most birders are willing to share their knowledge and help you identify different birds,” Schmidt said. “It’s a really nice group of people.”
