The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a person who shot a mother and daughter in their home on Bobwhite Road in Amherst County on the night of June 25.
The sheriff’s office on June 27 identified the victims of the shooting that took place at about 11:40 p.m.
Doris T. Puleio, 92, died from her injuries. Her daughter, Trudy Ann Goetz, 74, was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries, according to a news release issued Thursday.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate and is not releasing further details at this time, the release said.
The homicide is the first in Amherst County since the October 2016 killing of Troy Tyrone Roberson, who was gunned down at night at a barbershop on Old Wright Shop Road in Madison Heights, the sheriff’s office confirmed.
