A Liberty University professor was arrested Wednesday for the online sexual exploitation of a minor, according to Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Stephen Kilpatrick, 63, of Forest is facing three counts of indecent liberties of a child younger than 15-years-old and three counts of the use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children.

Kilpatrick was taken into custody by Bedford County Sheriff’s Office investigators when he traveled to meet with who he believed to be an underage female, according to the task force. He was booked in the Bedford Adult Detention Center and denied bond, according to online jail records.

Kilpatrick has been suspended from his position as an Associate Professor of Mathematics “pending the outcome of this matter,” according to an email from Liberty University.
