A 66-year-old Big Island man died Tuesday after the truck he was driving struck a tree in Coleman Falls.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at 5:40 p.m. on Virginia 652, one mile east of Virginia 752, according to a news release from Virginia State Police.

Police said the man was traveling east on Virginia 652 when the 1992 Chevrolet S-10 he was driving ran off the right side of the road and collided with a tree.

Police identified the driver as Woodrow Franklin Gibson. Gibson, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
