The Amherst Dixie Belles All-Star team opened its tournament in Spout Spring Sunday afternoon by dominating Timberlake, 30-1, in a five-inning game shortened by a mercy rule.

The Amherst squad of players age 13 to 15 wasted no time taking over the game with a handful of runs followed by four more in the second frame.

Leading 9-0 going into the top of the third inning, Amherst blew the brakes off of Timberlake with 13 runs and eight more in the fifth.

Amherst would not score in the fifth while Timberlake would plate their one and only run.
