Nelson County native and county and gospel music singer Jimmy Fortune will perform during a “Christmas in Clifford” hosted by the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 6.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Clifford Baptist Church, 635 Fletchers Level Road in Amherst.
Fortune, who was born in Williamsburg and moved to Nelson County as an infant, is a celebrated artist and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Hall of Fame and Virginia Music Hall of Fame. He is known for his long career with The Statler Brothers. The group retired in 2002, and Fortune tours now as a solo artist and often comes to Nelson and Amherst counties.
Tickets are $18 and are available at the law office of W. Thomas Berry, 420 Court St. Lovington; at Cut N’ Up on Dixie Airport Road and U.S. 29 Business in Madison Heights and at the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, 115 Taylor St in Amherst. All proceeds benefit the Amherst County DARE program as well as other community outreach programs provided by the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office.
