The Amherst County Service Authority recently received its seventh consecutive annual “Excellence in Waterworks Operation and Performance Award” from the Virginia Department of Health in 2018.

This marks the ninth time in 11 years ACSA has won the award, which is part of VDH’s “Virginia Optimization Program” that recognizes water utilities that reduce risks to public health associated with drinking water through adherence to regulatory standards. The program’s goals are developed by VDH through long-term studies by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the American Water Works Association and the waterworks industry, according to a recent news release issued by Amherst County.

The service authority’s board celebrated the award during its April 2 meeting.
