The Lady Govs softball team won two out of three games last week.

The week ended with a doubleheader against the Lady Hawks of Gretna.

Gretna defeated the Nelson girls 5-3 in the first game as the Lady Govs committed three errors while banging out six hits in the loss.

Nelson’s Brianna Tomlin felt the up and downs from playing sports as she belted a home run but also was tagged with the loss in the circle.

Nelson plated its three runs in the second frame.

In the second game Nelson slipped past the Lady Hawks 5-4 in the Dogwood District showdown.

Megan Seits flexed her muscles with a two-run blast.

Sarah Hicks picked up the pitcher’s win while going the entire five-inning distance.

The day before the doubleheader split, the Nelson squad rolled over Charlottesville 14-1.

The girls return to action on the 24th with a trip to Appomattox, then hosts Dan River on the April 25. The team hits the road again on April 26 with a trip up U.S. 29 to play Charlottesville, then the Lady Govs will cross the Tye River on April 29 to battle Nelson County, which is coached by former Nelson County JV player, Samantha Thacker.
