The Amherst Belles All-Stars with the help from three Nelson County ball players won the District II Championship last week by rolling over Appomattox 11-1 and will head to Rustburg in July to battle for the State Championship.

In last week’s title win it was the Ambyre Taylor show as she took care of the pitching duties in the circle by striking out a half dozen Appomattox batters while walking one in the 23 she faced.

Taylor swung the big stick when she belted a three run home run to seal the game.

Also representing Nelson County was Kaylah Faris, who went one for three at the plate and Courtney Klingler scored two runs in the title victory.

Earlier in the week Amherst played Appomattox and would plate 11 runs while the Appomattox team scored four.

Klingler got hit by a pitch in this contest but would end up scoring a run.

Faris showed off her defensive skills when a Appomattox base runner attempted to steal a base but Faris gloved the throw from her catcher Ashlyn Thacker for the out.

Taylor pitched four innings got a hit and post a RBI while also playing some at third base.
