The Nelson offense caught fire in the second period with 24 points posted while the Govs defense held the home team scoreless in the second and third periods.

"I really was excited to see our guys execute our game plan. It was great to see the balanced attack I thought we were capable of," said Govs head coach Matt Hicks." We were able to establish the run and then capitalize on some big plays down the field. Our guys worked very hard all week and it was great to see them rewarded for it."

Nelson would tack on 18 second half points while the Statesmen managed to add 16.

Hick stated how pleased he was with his defensive unit.

"Our guys really showed strength up front from what is a really talented group of backs. We eliminated the big play which was a huge focus coming out of the scrimmage," said Hicks. "When working together as a unit our defense is really tough and we will definitely be leaning on them throughout the season."
