The Govs soccer team notched win No. 19 to remain undefeated after taking down Appomattox, 7-1 in round one of the Region 2 C tournament held on the Nelson field.

A team going 19-0 is great but the Govs had another goal being chased as Wesley Boor became the school’s all-time scorer with 100 goals.

Boor entered the game tied with Lady Govs Tina Wulin as both shared 97 career goals.

The Govs were leading 1-0 against Appomattox when Boor early in the first half booted in the tie breaker to secure the scoring record.

Sitting on the record of 98 goals, the senior hit the century mark with two more goals before the game ended.

The win propelled the Govs into the second round of playoffs to be played Wed. (May 29) against Giles at Smith River Complex in Axton with a 7:30 start.

Other Govs scoring included, Casey Widdifield with a pair, Tyler Widdifield and Ian Strong. All the Govs that scored also posted assists.

Lady Govs 4, Dan River 1

The Lady Govs will be joining their soccer teammates in Axton as they defeated Dan River 4-1 behind three goals scored by Kate Strong. Lauren Armstrong also scored for the Lady Govs.

The girls will take on Radford at the same complex with their game getting started at 6 p.m.
