Lady Govs volleyball team defeated Appomattox 25-15 in its first set last week but that was all the Lady Raiders were willing to give up and swept the next three sets.

“We did everything right. Passed the ball well, offense was clicking and we cruised to an easy victory,” said Lady Govs coach Vicki Crawford. “The next three sets were a different story. Appomattox made some adjustments and we could never rebound. We went away from our game plan. Making critical serve receive errors which did not allow us to set up our offense.”

Two nights later the Nelson girls traveled to Alleghany while sweeping the home team, 3-0.

“A sign of a team with potential is that they have the ability to recover after a hard battle and loss,”said Crawford. “I was very pleased with the adjustments we made. We came out more focused and played like a team.”
