The Nelson Govs youth football seniors (12 to 13 year olds) team rolled over the Waynesboro Little Giants last Saturday 19-7 to earn a trip to the Super Bowl to be held in Staunton on Saturday.
Nelson will battle Stuarts Draft for the Augusta County Quarterbacks Club Super Bowl title.
Nelson quarterback Zach McGann couldn't be stopped as he unloaded a 35-yard pass to Amar Tabb early in the first quarter and followed that up with a toss to Tre Terry for a 40-yard touchdown pass.
The Waynesboro team finally found the endzone while committing a half dozen turnovers forced by the swarming Nelson defense.
McGann took matters into his own hands for the third scores with a sweep over the goal line.
That score was set up after Canyon Terrell grabbed a interception and raced 42 yards to the one-yard line when McGann topped off the play.
Elijah Jackson recorded a pair of interceptions while Justin Colbert also had a pick against the Little Giants.
Terrl was on point on defense ,along with his interception he recovered two Waynesboro fumbles.
"Team effort today with defense leading the way," said head coach Benji McGann."Carson Bercerra was a monster in the opposing teams backfield all day."
