The Govs baseball team’s Senior Night celebration was short and sweet as the lone twelfth grader, Garrett Walker, was honored before the home finale against Altavista last week.
Walker was also the starting pitcher for the Govs as he recorded the win while his teammates racked up 12 runs, yielding only two in the win.
The senior commanded the game from the mound while swinging a hot bat for the Govs.
Walker was busy with his stick as he posted two hits, scored two runs and added two RBI’s along with one free pass on a walk.
“On Senior night our only senior Garrett Walker shined bright,” said Govs first-year coach Chris Dowdy.”
Walker had plenty of support from his fellow Govs. Colt Mauer had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs.
Catcher Jack Rodgers also scored a pair of runs on two hits and drew a walk.
Cameron Banton added two runs while Dylan Clark pounded out two hits and a RBI while Jake Ballowe recorded a RBI and Logan Campbell scored a run and was walked twice.
