The Govs basketball team rolled over Altavista, 70-56, last Friday in a home Dogwood District contest.
Brice Wilson led the offense with 26 points and eight rebounds while Houston Carter added 18 and Jaren Purvis recorded 14 points while hauling down 11 rebounds in the win.
Earlier last week, while Carter was busy scoring his 1,000th point for Nelson, he and his teammates rolled past Appomattox, 67-54.
Carter drained 29 points, Purvic 15 and Wilson added 14.
"Always great to play Appomattox because of the atmosphere it brings. Students come out from both schools, faculty comes out and both teams compete at a high level," said Nelson coach Brian Wilson.
"This is why we get involved with high school athletics is competitions like this. I'm proud of our kids for how they came together as a team and played as one unit all night. I told them before the game that there would be highs and lows in this game and we needed to stay our course and not let our highs lift us too high, or our lows drop us too far. I told them if we can do this and stay with our game plan and be consistent together then we would be OK. We were able to do this tonight and I"m proud of everyone. This is what it is going to take for us to finish our season like we want."
