The Govs baseball team took advantage of seven Altavista errors last week to bury the Colonels 19-5 in Dogwood District action on the road last week.

Nelson wasted no time jumping on the Colonels in the first inning with five runs while the Altavista boys posted one.

Things settled down in the second frame with no runs either way but in the third Nelson would post a pair and the Colonels plated three for a 7-4 score.

During the fifth and sixth innings the Govs bats exploded for 11 runs while the home team managed one score.

Landen Campbell posted the win on the mound while Braxton Eads was tagged with the loss.

Jack Rogers blasted a three-run homer in the fifth frame and would finish with a 4-for-5 day at the plate.

Coly Mauer enjoyed a 2-for-4 day as the Govs improved its record to 2-5 while Altavista drops to 1-7.
