Curtis Morse Thompson, 84, of Arrington, departed this life on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at her home. Born in Nelson County, May 8, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Archie Kyle and Sadie Galvin Morse. In earlier years, Curtis had been a seamstress for Lovingston Manufacturing where she worked for many years until her retirement. She was a devoted and life-long member of White Rock Baptist Church where she faithfully served her Lord in various capacities including, trustee, deaconess, and mother of the choir, just to name a few. She would often lovingly refer to these positions as her many "hats" she wore. Curtis also served her community and was proud to be a board member of the Nelson Heritage Center. Curtis loved flowers and was especially fond of gardenias. She could also frequently be found in the kitchen baking, something she found great joy in. Curtis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will forever be missed. She is survived by her son, Stefforn Thompson of Arrington; a grandson, Eric Thompson; two sisters, Mattie Morse and Ida Morse, both of Bowie, Md.; two sisters-in-law, Christine Thompson and Christine Thompson, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; a nephew, Jason Smith (Kanithia) of Temple Hills, Md.; two great-nieces, Sierra Smith and Kensley Smith, both of Temple Hills, Md.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Albert Thompson Jr. A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, at White Rock Baptist Church by the Rev. Howard Grooms with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
