Virginia Distillery Company ‘Second Saturday’ event
Virginia Distillery Company, 299 Eades Lane, Lovingston, will honor veterans, service members and military families at its “Second Saturday’ series from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 8. There will be a complimentary tasting flight for active-duty military and veterans with valid military ID. The event will feature live music by Mike Clem from 2 to 6 p.m. and food by Pok-E-Joe’s BBQ.
Through June the company’s Port Cask Finished Virginia-Highland Whisky is discounted to raise funds for Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit that assists veterans, service members and military families.

Nelson County High School senior recognized
Hannah Clements, a senior at Nelson County High School, was one of 18 students to receive a $1,500 tuition scholarship from UVA Community Credit Union.
UVA Community Credit Union’s mission is to improve the well-being of its members and to strengthen the communities in which they live. To accomplish this mission, the credit union places an emphasis on education by offering a variety of free community education seminars and through the high school scholarship program.
The Maple Hall Inn hosts A Mother’s Rest
The Maple Hall Inn will host a three-night respite retreat June 7 through 10 in partnership with A Mother’s Rest (AMR) for caregivers of extra needs children. Maple Hall Inn offered 12 mansion rooms with private baths and a complete breakfast to caregivers.
The mission of AMR is to provide affordable, year‑round, in‑person respite and fellowship opportunities for mothers and other caregivers of children/adults/spouses with disabilities. Partnerships with inns across the country like the Maple Hall Inn will afford guests of the program the opportunity for recuperative rest and rejuvenation.
