The Academy Center of the Arts’ Community Through Theatre (CTT) program is staging “Follies” in the historic theater, 524 Main Street. A beloved musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman, “Follies” follows ex-showgirls Sally and Phyllis, and their respective husbands, as they reunite with other members of the musical revue “Follies” for a final farewell to their old Broadway theater, which has been scheduled for demolition. The occasion is meant to be joyful, but instead brings an old love quadrangle to the surface, putting both women’s crumbling marriages at risk.
CTT’s production is being directed by Jim Ackley, newly named director of CTT, who was announced in the role last month.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and May 17 and 18 and 2 p.m. this Sunday and May 19.
Tickets range from $18 to $56. Call (434) 846-8499 or visit https://academycenter.org/event/ctt-follies-3 for more information.
