The final competition in the Miss Virginia pageant (pictured last year), held at Liberty University's Center for Music & the Worship Arts Concert Hall, is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Preliminaries — featuring talent, eveningwear and onstage question — are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
Miss Lynchburg Dot Kelly and Heritage High School graduate Alexis Johnson, competing as Miss Chesterfield, are performing their talents on Thursday, while E.C. Glass grad Eva Pontius, as Miss Central Virginia, competes in evening gown and onstage interview. On Friday, they switch, with Kelly and Johnson doing eveningwear and onstage interview and Pontius talent. Tickets to both preliminaries are $30 each. Admission to the final competition is $40.
Other events include the Miss Virginia Outstanding Teen Competition, featuring the Teens in Training Showcase, at 10:30 a.m. Friday in LU's Tower Theater (admission is $20), and the teen finals at 1:30 p.m. Saturday ($25).
