The view from Jeff Barber’s office is breathtaking. Finally inside permanent walls on the second floor of the Williams Stadium press tower, two giant windows offer unencumbered views of the school’s soccer stadium, baseball stadium and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond.

It’s quite different than the small-window view from the now demolished Hancock Center Barber had when he started as Liberty’s athletics director in early 2006. The massive boom in facility growth is just one reason why Liberty has gone from small-time Division I afterthought to being on the cusp of moving to a Football Bowl Subdivision conference.
