Brian Andrew Brooks Brian Andrew Brooks, 36, of Lynchburg, died suddenly on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Brian was born April 20, 1977, in Lynchburg, a son of Elizabeth (Betty) Taylor and the late Gerald (Jerry) Brooks. Brian was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School, class of 1995. He loved sports from age two on. He played tight end for E.C. Glass during his high school years and he was very proud that they won N.W. Region/ Western District Championship in 1993. He attended Bridgewater College and continued to play football. Brian loved music; he played piano, trombone and handbells for First United Methodist Church. He loved to ride his mountain bike and hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway especially with his son, Ayden. Brian was a member of First United Methodist Church and then transferred to Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church. Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Taylor and stepfather, William (Cliff) Taylor, a loving second mom, Tricia S. Brooks, all of Lynchburg; a son, Ayden Michael Brooks and his mother, Alicia Gomez, of New Orleans; a brother, Burton C. Brooks and wife, Linda, of Nashville, Tennessee; two stepbrothers, Scott C. Taylor, and wife, Pamela, of Roanoke, Va., Larry Burchette of Hudson, Florida; two stepsisters, Amy Martin and husband, Jared, of Lynchburg, Va., Lisa T. Blankenship and husband, Ben, of Richmond, Va.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews many loving relatives, friends and a very special friend, Angie Regan. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Gerald (Jerry) Brooks; uncle, Roy (Bunky) Brooks; his maternal grandparents, Herbert C. Woody, Helen Woody Layne and Edwin T. Layne (Ed); paternal grandparents, Emmett R. Brooks and Lucille H. Brooks. Brian was an employee of Hill City House Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, consider contributions to Ayden Michael Brook's College Fund at Member One Credit Union: Member One - P.O. Box 14087, Roanoke, VA or deposit in account at your local branch. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, in the sanctuary of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, 4660 Fort Ave., Lynchburg. A funeral service will follow 11 a.m. at the church with interment to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at Hill City House Restaurant on Timberlake Road.     Ayden and I will miss you so much. We will always remember the good times we had as a family. You will live on through your son and I will make sure that happens. Rest in peach. I will always love you.
