Lois Turner Coffee Lois Turner Coffee, of The Summit, Lynchburg, Va., entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 29, 2013. She was the wife of the late Shirley F. Coffee for many happy years. Born on November 30, 1916, in Stone Mountain, Va., she was the daughter of the late Perry D. Turner and Lilly F. Holdren Turner. She was a graduate of Huddleston High School and Radford University. She was a school teacher for many years; having taught in a one room school called "Union", Brookhill School, Forest Hills Elementary, and retired from teaching in Lynchburg after thirteen years. From here she served her country in World War II as a Navy Wave. She received her basic training at Hunter College in New York and served in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the National, State, and Lynchburg Teacher's Association, the Lynchburg Woman's Club, and Colonial Hill's Golf Club. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, and attended Sunday school and church as long as she was able to do so. She took part in many activities and loved the church. She was preceded in death by one son, Perry Lee Coffee; one sister, Francis T. Mitchell; three brothers, Guy, Ralph, and Snow Turner; and one sister-in-law, Frances H. Turner. She is survived by two sons, Johnny S. Coffee of Burlington, N.C., and Richard "Rick" F. Coffee of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Michelle C. Grello and husband, Bob, Brian Coffee and wife, Nicole, Jesscena C. Fink and husband, Brennan, Z. Muzette Coffee, Richard B. Coffee and wife, Pierce, John H. Coffee and wife, Lindsay, and Charles A. Coffee and fianc‚, Alicia; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Helen Turner of Huddleston. A graveside service will be conducted at Fort Hill Memorial Park, Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Paul Michael Raymond officiating.
