Lynchburg College’s Shellenberger Field was in a state of disarray. Its draining system was subpar, so games were often postponed because of rainy weather. With no backup field available, rescheduling events was a nightmare. Then there was the track surrounding the field, a six-lane dinosaur both unappealing and outdated.
In 2006, though, Dr. Jack Toms helped change all that.
