Smoke sets off fire alarm at Poplar Forest

Forest Volunteer firefighters responded Saturday afternoon to a fire alarm at Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest.

Shortly before 5 p.m., firefighters arrived to find smoke spilling out of one of the fireplaces in the basement, setting off alarms within the historic home, said Ryan Burnette, of the Forest Volunteer Fire Department.
