On his left hand, Rev. Robin Gorsline wears a simple wedding band, a thin golden circle of laurel leaves formed like the wreathes that once crowned Roman heroes.

“My husband gave this to me when we were married,” he said. “He bought it because he saw me as somebody who was his hero and his favorite and all that sort of thing. And I’ve often reflected on this: The day we have marriage equality, this ring will be completely fulfilled.”
