'48 graduate leaves Lynchburg College record $5 million bequest

Walter W. Ridgway Jr. attended Lynchburg College for just one year before graduating in 1948.

At Tuesday’s convocation for new students, college President Kenneth Garren revealed Ridgway, a Roanoke native, left at least $5 million to the college in his will — the largest bequest ever made to the school. It came as a surprise.
