BEDFORD — Known as “the Pie Lady” for her assortment of treats, the late Ruth Foutz Crouch left as many filled hearts as she did bellies in the Bedford community.

The retired manager of the former D. Reynolds Clothing Store in downtown Bedford died April 29 at age 75. She spent her working life in Bedford’s Centertown, and City Council on Tuesday passed a proclamation honoring her “continuous contributions to the quality of life” in the city.
