A 15-year-old who was struck by a car while riding his bicycle Wednesday in Lynchburg has been released from the hospital.

Melissa Staggs, who contacted The News & Advance on Friday and identified herself as the boy's mother, said her son, Jacob, suffered serious injuries in the collision, including a severed temporal artery.
