Lynchburg College broke ground Saturday evening for the expansion and renovation of the Burton Student Center. Construction for the $12 million project is expected to start May 18 with the hope of being ready by the fall of 2014.

"For so many of our students, this has been a dream," said John Eccles, vice president and dean for student development at the college. "It's not often you get to see dreams come true."
