Children and teachers were rushed out of a Lynchburg school for youths with learning and behavioral disorders after a 14-year-old student arrived on campus with a homemade bomb in his backpack Thursday morning.

The weapon was a “chemical/pressure bottle bomb,” consisting of several chemicals contained in a 14 to 16 oz. lotion bottle, said Virginia State Police Special Agent Keith Childress.
