Six regional artists donated landscape and still-life paintings to Liberty University last week, forming the beginning of the university’s permanent art collection.

Five paintings came from the Blue Ridge Plein Air Painters, a group of professional artists that embraces the centuries-old tradition of painting outside. Artists who donated included David Heath, Lois Virginia Babb, Rodney Laughon, Kathy Seek and Charlie Turner. The sixth piece was donated by North Carolina artist Diane Johnson, a Christian artist who has painted scenes across the United States and Europe.
