Lynchburg College plans weeklong focus on homelessness, hunger

Lynchburg College kicked off its annual Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week Saturday with a small cast of speakers, all hoping to inspire students to take action.

The awareness week — during which LC students sleep outside to raise money for local residential programs and write letters to legislators about policies affecting hunger and homelessness — has been held at LC for more than a decade in an effort to reveal what it is like to be hungry and homeless.
