Since 2002, Troy Loveday, better known as “Bruiser” to his fans, has brought headlocks, body slams and suplexes to Central Virginia with the Bruiser Wrestling Federation. Based out of Appomattox, its matches take place anywhere from high school gyms to fairs, packing in crowds who have a thirst for the world of professional wrestling. Matches feature a lineup of good guys taking on bad guys, battling it out for the love of the crowd and perhaps to bring home the championship belt. “I think it’s sort of like the superhero kind of appeal,” said Loveday. “You want to see good and bad against each other.” The next match will take place at the Appomattox Moose Lodge this spring, benefitting Relay for Life.
