Not a lot of big news from Tuesday’s press conference with Liberty football coach Danny Rocco. As expected, several players are out for the Youngstown State game Saturday, including senior offensive guard Britt Stone, who broke his leg against Glenville State three weeks ago. Stone, Kyle O’Donnell (knee), Tommy Shaver (foot) and Paul Young (leg) will all be out for a few more weeks at least.
Rocco said he spent much of the off week last week concentrating on a thorough self-scout, trying to find out exactly what went right and what went wrong in Liberty’s first three games. He also noted that Youngstown State has his team’s full attention, especially after the Penguins beat then-No. 2 North Dakota State last Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium.
Look for a feature in tomorrow’s N&A on Liberty’s lone All-American from last year—long snapper Dan Pope. Also, I’ll have a notebook with items on punter Mike Larsson, former William Campbell standout Danny Broggin and kicker Matt Bevins.
That’s all for now.
