If it seemed odd that Liberty and UNC Asheville were opening the Big South basketball season Tuesday, Nov. 18, well ... it was. But there was a reason, and it was finally officially unveiled Wednesday. The Flames and Bulldogs will play a nationally televised game at noon as part of ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.
The game lost a bit of its luster for ESPN when the Bulldogs learned that 7-foot-9 center Kenny George will likely miss the season after undergoing foot surgery. Still, the network can sell the Seth Curry storyline, as the younger brother of Davidson standout Stephen Curry will be playing his second game for the Flames.
