Jefferson Forest’s baseball team overcame an early 3-0 deficit to Amherst with a three-run home run by Ragan Rudisill capping a four-run bottom of the first en route to a 10-4 triumph that clinched its third consecutive Seminole District title outright.

“That was big,” coach Ryan Gilleland said of the first-inning rally. “We’ve had some ups and downs this season, but we’re back on right path (entering the postseason).”

On Senior Night, the Cavaliers (15-4, 9-3 Seminole) got hits from seven of their eight senior position players. Erik Heiligenstadt (5-0) got the win in relief of senior Zack Folger, starting in the second. Forest will try to defend its district tournament title as the No. 1 seed next week.
