Four sacrifice flies proved to be the difference Sunday afternoon, with starting pitcher Brian Holliday throwing his third straight quality start, giving Lynchburg a 6-2 win over Wilmington in game two of their four-game series with the Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium.
The Hillcats remain atop the Northern Division second half standings with a 13-10 record, and meet with Wilmington again tonight at 7:05.
Tony Watson is the scheduled starter for the Green & Gold, carrying in a record of 5-8, with a 3.54 ERA.
Holliday pitched six innings, allowing just one run on three hits, issuing four walks and striking out five. Moises Robles came on in the seventh, and allowed one unearned run on five hits over three innings to earn his sixth save of the season.
Alex Presley drove in two runs with a pair of sacrifice flies, with Jim Negrych and Jared Keel providing two more RBI on sacrifice fly outs to the vast outfield of Frawley Stadium.
Jose De Los Santos finished the afternoon 3-4, crossing the plate twice thanks to the efforts of Presley. Miles Durham went 2-4 with an RBI double and a run scored.
The loss for Santiago is his first on the Judy Johnson Field bump since a June 19 setback to Frederick. He entered this most recent outing with a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 2.03 in seven starts at Frawley this season.
The Puerto Rico native allowed five runs on six hits over seven innings, the latter matching a season-high set against Lynchburg on May 24.
