"We picked them up full court and got some steals and easy layups on the other end," Liberty coach Jeff Monroe said.
Anthony Reynolds and Carlton Payne each added 13 points for the Minutemen, with Payne contributing 12 rebounds and blocking seven shots.
"He changed a lot of shots," Monroe said.
Kordero Thompson and Derick Robertson each distributed five assists for Liberty (17-10), which earns a rematch with Robert E. Lee (20-4) in the semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m. JMU. The Minutemen split two games this season with the Fighting Leemen, who won back-to-back state titles in 2004 and 2005 before finishing runner-up in 2006.
Both won at home but Thurdsay's semifinal will be played at a neutral site.
"(Robert E. Lee) hasn't played there this season," Monroe said, noting he has taken his teams to JMU for camps the past two summers. "Our community is very excited and our kids are excited, too."
Region B, Division 1
Altavista 69, Manassas Park 51
Sophomore forward Mike Poindexter sank a career-high seven 3-pointers, missing only one attempt in the first quarter, and finished with a game-high 23 points to lift the Colonels to a quarterfinal home triumph.
"He's pretty consistent," Altavista coach Mike Cartolaro said, noting Poindexter is shooting close to 40 percent from 3-point range for the season.
The Cougars (12-12) led 9-2 early before the Colonels (21-5) battled back to go up 31-28 at halftime.
"Mike hit 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the third quarter to help us extend the lead to 10," Cartolaro said.
The win sends Altavista to Amherst for a fifth meeting with Nelson County in Thursday night's semifinal. Only the winner will advance to Saturday's final at Eastern Mennonite University and next week's Group A, Division I, state tournament.
Region B, Division 2
Appomattox 63, Randolph-Henry 56
After getting into first-half foul trouble, Michael St. John scored 10 of his 16 points in the third quarter, when Appomattox outscored host Randolph-Henry 21-14 to take a 48-35 lead. Point guard Kenny Scott, also the quarterback on the Raiders' football team, led the Raiders (14-11) with 18 points.
Appomattox advances to play the winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal between Clarke County and Goochland on Thursday at 8 p.m. at Eastern Mennonite University.
