Lynchburg man sentenced to 38 years for robbery of 76-year-old

A Lynchburg man convicted of breaking into the home of a 76-year-old woman, beating her and robbing her at gunpoint was sentenced to 38 years in prison Friday.

Aquatic playground coming to Lynchburg

The city is preparing to start work on a splashy new park project that will be the first of its kind in Lynchburg.

Construction is expected to begin this summer on the community’s first sprayground — a type of aquatic playground that takes the old summer pastime of running through the sprinklers to new levels.

Two Lynchburg women jailed, charged with abduction

What appeared at first to be a runaway situation has landed two Lynchburg women in jail on child abduction charges, Lynchburg Police said Wednesday.

Louise Pugliese, 47, and Ariel Odom, 20, were each charged with three counts of felony child abduction and are also facing other pending charges, police said in a news release.
